For all of you guys have a boost gauge, do you have a mechanical or an electrical? What are their differences on the installation? And what wires or lines it should be hooked up to?

I have the mechanical unit from Autometer. Most members also have mech. boost guages because they are relatively accurate and priced cheaply from Summit. The difference in elect. and mech is that you have a hardline (vac line) from manifold to the boost guage in the mech version. The elect version has an electrical sender that connects to the manifold and then has wire to send the amount of resistance to the elect. guage. Wires and lines of each are very similar and are easy to follow using the provided instructions. Elect. guages are usually more accuarate, but not by much, because electrons will flow faster than air through a rubber hose. You still have to take in account the calibration of the electrical unit to surpass its mech. counterpart. Many people put down Autometer because of its price, yet you see most racers with autometer guages. Some people who spend $200+ on a guage think mech. guages are inferior, I beg to differ. Nascar and NHRA use autometer guages, so why can't we?

Put on a mech boost/vac gauge from autometer on my sc ex. The damn thing is when I went ot put it on I dropped it and put a small dent in it. So now it is calibrated to 2&1/2 psi. The only cool thing is when I am at WOT it reads like 8 0r 9 psi. Just be careful if you get one. Those hoses can kink easily and a major one will ruin it. Good Luck!

nicherw; Want to buy my autometer boost guage? I have the first (boost) guage shown here: http://www.autometer.com/hp/99catalo...3401_04_98.jpg
I bought one with a black surround to replace it. Nothing is wrong with it at all.
